Jesolo, as well as the sea, the sun and the holidays, offers
a unique witness of its past. What were the very first origins
of the town, called Equilio (from the latin Equilium) is
not known. It is possible that there was a urban settlement
in about the 6th Century, born because of the Barbarian
invasion. Confirmation of such an old past came to light
between 1961 and 1966, when in the area called "Le Mura"
(the Town Walls) in Jesolo town, scholars found, inside
the ruins of the great Mediaeval cathedral, the remains
of a rectangular church. The itineraries that start from
Jesolo town have an interesting stop in the visit to the
ancient walls that are reached through the road called after
them, Via Antiche Mura, going off the Via Piave Vecchio.
Characteristics: Asphalt
road. Very little traffic.
