The Piave D.O.C. area includes a territory of about 170 km extending from the north-eastern borders of Treviso to the mouth of the river Piave, from which it takes its name, and from the hills of Conegliano, the Prosecco capital, to the first hinterland of the city of Venice. You can travel through the area comfortably by car or even by bicycle, finding the Starda dei Vini D.O.C del Piave (Piave D.O.C. wine road signs) to serve as valuable indicators for stopping at wine cellars or agritourisms. The wine-growing tradition in this area is thousands of years old; there is even talk of three millennia of vine cultivation. Immersed in the marvellous nature along the Piave river, splendid and evocative in all its seasons, one can delve into the discovery of the most characteristic local wines. The Piave DOC area has a great variety of soils and microclimates, which makes it possible to obtain particularly differentiated wines from numerous different grape varieties. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmen\u00e8re are the most cultivated and widespread black grape varieties. Raboso Piave is the grape variety and thus the most representative wine of the entire area. Then there is Pinot Grigio, Manzoni Bianco, made from the best known of the numerous crosses created by Prof. Luigi Manzoni at the Scuola Enologica di Conegliano (crossbreeding Rhine Riesling for Pinot Bianco), Prosecco, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Riesling and Malbech. Verduzzo Trevigiano completes the list; only here is it possible to make this unique wine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
